All our preschool programs are mixed-aged programs for three- to five-year-olds. A child must be three by September 30th in order to enter the program.
There are up to 24 children and three teachers in each of the three rooms. These rooms are full-day programs that combine preschool and childcare.
Activity centers, such as, housekeeping, reading, blocks, art, and manipulative centers promote playing in small groups. Children's inquiries and interests are used to create a curriculum. Children learn best when we put their ideas in action and help them to explore these ideas.
We integrate prewriting, pre-math, and language skills into each project. Activities are planned to promote gross motor skills, to improve upon fine motor skills, to increase the child's language development and awareness of number concepts, and to foster independence by learning self-help skills and problem solving.
Enrichment is provided in the form of a visit from a music teacher, who introduces new songs and rhythms on a weekly basis and occasional field trips to museums, parks, and live performances. Optional swimming lessons are available during the summer through the YMCA.
For part time, we cannot accommodate Tuesday-Wednesday-Thursday schedules. An overtime charge in 15-minute increments will be charged for any late pickup for any reason beyond 6 p.m. All pre-school children are required to be at the center by 9:30 a.m.
This is a part-time program that runs just like the school year. The hours are from 8:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. When there is no public school, there is no Bright Start. The tuition is a monthly charge for Bright Start. The monthly charge depends on how many days your child is signed up for. The curriculum and schedule are the same as they are for preschool.
